Spotlight on Hyde Park
Lets put a Spotlight on Hyde Park as it is one of the most iconic student areas in Leeds. Check out the great things to do in and around the area. There is a massive student community in this area, meaning you will most likely be close to friends and there is a strong sense of belonging. Located ten minutes walk away for the universities’ city campuses and close to both the centre of town and Headingley, its a pretty perfect spot for convenience.
Hyde park also boasts its own amenities with numerous smaller supermarkets, takeaways and cafes right on its doorstep. If you don’t fancy going into town for a night out there are spots like the Brudenell Social Club and the Hyde Park Pub close by. The Picture House is also a great venue, playing art house films and big new releases.
The properties here are mostly large terraces, often with between 4 and 8 bedrooms making them ideal for large groups. Some of the houses have been split into smaller flats. Due to the scale of the properties you can expect high ceilings and large windows, often with basements and gardens. If you are lucky enough to get a property near the park, you can expect beautiful views.
Also you’ll find one of the oldest cinemas in Yorkshire; Hyde Park Picture House. The cinema shows a variety of recent releases, as well as independent and arthouse films. A little tip, they give a nice student discount. Don’t miss out on the great shows and events they host.
The Brudenell Social Club, an iconic music venue where talented young bands come to show off their ability. Its a great place to come listen and find new bands and music. Left Bank Leeds, for 85 years the church was serving the local Anglican congregation. However in 1995 it became too difficult to maintain. 7 years after, it re-opened as an events for hire area. Their packed calendar of events includes art exhibitions, film screenings and concerts, not to mention their famous beer and cider festivals. But the highlight is their monthly afternoon tea which is totally free.
